After exploring the diversity of disabilities and the relationship to visual culture, I gained a better understanding of how methodology and symbolism play hand in hand in order to represent something pictorially. Also, the interview of Myron Claeys, organized by Professor Cynthia Frank, added to the importance of iconography and how it can be used for people with disabilities. He communicated the importance of symbols and how they allow people to react to the public and their environment, ensuring visual access. Therefore, my goal was to design a symbol that would unify all people with disabilities while serving a stronger, more empathic function on society.

LOGO
I conducted research that focused on invisible disabilities, braille, symbolism of hands, places of accessibility, and successful iconography to ensure a thoughtful logo. The design adheres to the complexity and diversity of a disability, without leaving any particular one out or targeting any specific disability. To visualize the new symbol in a common space, I implemented my design into a parking garage to enhance the effect it has when viewed in a realistic setting.
